In a meeting held  prior to the 17th Session of the Indigenous Peoples Expert Mechanism, which included representatives of indigenous peoples,the President of the Republic of Western Armenia, Mrs. Lydia Margossian, gave a speech on  the issue of expulsion of Armenia  after the illegal occupation of Western Armenia. She also spoke about the UN Convention of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to turn it  into a mandatory  document and particularly to be as active as possible in the World Intellectual Property Organization, where the issues of intellectual property of indigenous peoples are discussed. Referring to the issue of increasing the legal rights of indigenous peoples, Mrs. Lydia Margossian emphasized that  Armenian people of Western Armenia have already received full legal rights since the indigenous Armenian state was recognized more than 100 years ago, and since then we have been talking about the application of this law.
