The liberation of Artsakh was also an important victory for Western Armenia, as this territory provided a basis for our recovery process. Thus, it was possible to have official representation in international structures, including the UN.

However, in 2020, Turkey, taking advantage of the situation, initiated a war to support Azerbaijan in its occupation of Artsakh. The authorities of Eastern Armenia and the French government also participated in this process, in various ways.

Of particular note is President Macron’s cancellation of the “Friendship” charters, which in 2019 created a “pseudo-legal” basis for Baku to attack Artsakh in 2020.
