In his speech dedicated to the 106th anniversary of the Treaty of Sèvres, Ashot Harutyunyan, Chairman of the Artsakh Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Western Armenia, addressed the protection of the historical and legal rights of the Armenian people and the need to internationalize these issues.

He emphasized the significance of Articles 88–93 of the Treaty of Sèvres for Armenia, highlighting the recognition of Armenia’s independence and the issue of determining its borders. The speech also addressed the arbitral award issued by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson on November 22, 1920.

Ashot Harutyunyan stressed that the protection of the rights of the Armenian people must continue within the frameworks of international law, diplomacy, academia, and international public opinion. According to him, the struggle should not be limited to military means but should be transferred to the long-term legal and political arena.

The Artsakh issue was also given an important place in the speech. He noted that the Artsakh issue should not be excluded from the Armenian national agenda and that the issues of the security, dignified return, and protection of the rights of the Armenians of Artsakh must continue to be raised on international platforms.

According to Ashot Harutyunyan, the relationship between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Western Armenia should be viewed not as competition, but as a division of functions within the framework of a common national objective. He believes that the Armenian people must continue the long-term legal and international defense of their rights in a united and organized manner.
