The Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem strongly condemned the recently organized exhibition at the Gandzasar Monastery in Artsakh, describing it as an attempt to distort the monastery’s historical Armenian Christian identity.

According to the Patriarchate’s statement, museum replicas of manuscripts were displayed in the presence of foreign diplomats and were used to advance claims that reinterpret the history of Gandzasar.

The Patriarchate called on the Armenian authorities and the international community to protect the Armenian Christian heritage of Artsakh and reject attempts to distort historical facts. It noted that the history of Gandzasar and Armenian ecclesiastical heritage has been studied and documented for centuries by international academic and cultural institutions.
