The Ministry of Culture of Artsakh reports:

“The former Ministers of Culture of the Republic of Artsakh have appealed to Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, demanding effective and consistent measures to protect, document, and internationally present Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh.

The appeal is prompted by the continuing policy of destruction, alteration of identity, and appropriation of Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh, as well as attempts to present and legitimize this process internationally.

The former ministers demand that the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia provide a clear and public assessment of Azerbaijan’s policy toward Armenian cultural heritage, establish effective state mechanisms for its continuous monitoring and documentation, and consistently raise the issue of protecting Armenian heritage on international professional and intergovernmental platforms.

The appeal also includes a demand to raise on the international agenda the issue of preserving Artsakh’s museum collections, documenting their legal status, and securing their return within the context of the cultural rights of displaced Artsakh Armenians.

The protection of cultural heritage cannot be limited to documenting facts. It requires a clear state position and concrete action.”
