Hovik Avanesov, Ombudsman for the Cultural Heritage of Artsakh, criticized the approach of placing the issue of the return of Artsakh Armenians on the same level as the return of Azerbaijan’s former residents.

According to him, the return of Artsakh Armenians to their historical homeland is a fundamental right, and the Artsakh issue cannot be considered closed by any political declaration.

Avanesov also emphasized that following such statements, a significant increase in the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage has been observed in Artsakh, highlighting the need for its preservation and international attention.
