On the sixth day of the regional war, Iran launched a new military operation in the Kurdish autonomous region in northern Iraq, targeting Iranian Kurdish armed groups. According to Iranian state media, the operation was directed against “anti-Iranian separatist forces.”
Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence reported that the positions of groups that, according to Tehran, were preparing to infiltrate Iranian territory through the western borders were targeted. According to the official statement, these groups suffered heavy losses during the operation.
At the same time, Iran continued missile and drone strikes against Israel and American military facilities located in the region. This marks the 19th wave of attacks since the beginning of the war.
Meanwhile, according to local sources, several explosions were recorded in Iraq’s Sulaymaniyah province near the settlements of Arabat, Zarkuiz, and Surdash. It is reported that one of the targets of the strikes was the headquarters of the Iranian Kurdish armed group “Komala.”
The Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, for its part, denied reports that it supports Kurdish armed groups preparing operations against Iran.
