The president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regional council, Renaud Muselier, said:

"Ladies and gentlemen,

You are aware of my duty to the Armenian community. We honor the memory of those who died during the 1915 genocide and strongly condemn the aggression suffered by Armenians in Artsakh.

The Southern region remembers, the Southern region does not forget, the Southern region acts in the interests of Armenians.

Today we want to perpetuate those memories and strengthen them.

For this reason, we intend to name the Lycee Thierry Molnier of  Nitsca in honor of Meline and Misak Manoushian.

I myself supported this initiative of the mayor of Nitse, delegate of the regional president, Christian Estrozi, until it was realized. This is a fitting tribute to two heroes of our region's resistance, from a community very dear to our hearts.

Commemorating Meline and Misak Manoushian is a way to shine a light on those who fought in the shadows, who took up arms at an early age to resist Nazi barbarism and defend France and the Republic.

At a time when our values are under attack in our own land, in Europe and around the world, we need more than ever to protect and preserve their sacrificial legacy.

Rest assured that our commitment to the Armenian community is complete and will always remain so under any circumstances.

Sincerely yours,

  Sincerely yours,

Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Regional Council,

Deputy President of French Regions
