The Message of NGOs represent the interests of residents forcibly displaced from Artsakh with a message addressed the international community:stressing that no free nation can renounce its sovereign rights and submit to the rule of a foreign state, moreover a state ruled by an authoritarian, corrupt and racist regime intoxicated by impunity.
The relics of the Baptist, the churches and the graves of the ancestors, which have been protected for centuries, are evidence for the whole world that freedom is the highest value for the people of Artsakh.
They explain that they left because that was the only way they could expose the big lie on which the political idea of resolving the conflict was based, forcing us and our children to swear allegiance and accept the citizenship of a state that hates us.
“For three decades, we have defended the right of our children to peace and free development with all we might.
We were opposed to political deals that were offered to us at the expense of our sovereign right to live in our homeland, which was gained at the cost of many lives in our centuries-long struggle to preserve national dignity.
And this struggle is not over,”said the statement.
They continue: during the three decades of the conflict, no statesman, politician or representative of the international legal authority answered a simple question which have legally recognized the obligation to follow the rule of law as a fundamental principle of their statehood, may not fulfill the obligation to respect Artsakh’s right to self-determination arising from this principle «which have legally recognized the obligation to follow the rule of law as a fundamental principle of their statehood, may not fulfill the obligation to respect Artsakh’s right to self-determination arising from this principle which have legally recognized the obligation to follow the rule of law as a fundamental principle of their statehood, may not fulfill the obligation to respect Artsakh’s right to self-determination arising from this principle or restore international order in Artsakh based on the right to self-determination and other human rights and freedoms, or agree that aggression, blockade and occupation are legitimate means of conflict resolution. They presented 5 points that, in their opinion, are necessary for a peaceful return to the homeland. First, the possibility of criminal prosecution of the citizens of Artsakh on any charge related to the entire course of the conflict by Baku should be completely excluded. All arrested and already convicted Armenians should be released. Second, Baku’s armed forces, police and administration must be completely withdrawn from the territory of the former Region of Autonomous Nagorno-Karabakh and Shahumyan region, where Baku bears full responsibility for ethnic cleansing in 1992. They also exclude the return of Artsakh citizens to their homeland under the jurisdiction of Baku. Third, the Lachine Corridor should be transferred to the control and management of the United Nations. Fourth, international multinational peacekeeping forces of the United Nations should be deployed along the border of Artsakh and a demilitarized zone should be created.
Fifth, the territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Region and the Shahumyan region should be transferred to UN administration to provide conditions for the return of all refugees, the establishment of democratic and legal institutions, and the restoration of the economy.
