A free Armenian language course will soon begin in Tigranakert, becoming a noteworthy and symbolic event in the region’s cultural life.

According to the Turkish news website Bianet, the Tigranakert municipality is organizing courses in Kurdish, Armenian, and Assyrian. Applications have already opened.

The program is being implemented by the municipality’s Department of Arts and Social Affairs as part of educational initiatives promoting linguistic and cultural diversity. The courses will be entirely free of charge and open to all interested individuals aged 16 and above.

Notably, Armenian will be taught at A1 and A2 levels, allowing beginners to take their first steps in learning their mother tongue.

The teaching of Armenian in Tigranakert carries not only educational but also deep symbolic significance; it reflects growing recognition of cultural diversity and increased attention to linguistic rights in the region.

Whether this opens a new chapter in the revival of the Armenian language in Western Armenia remains to be seen. Time will tell, but it can already be stated that interest is high and expectations are strong.
