A 64-year-old Armenian citizen, Agop Değirmencioğlu, was found dead in his apartment in the Beyoğlu district of Constantinople. Police determined that he had been killed by multiple stab wounds.
Police were informed of the incident by his neighbor, 45-year-old Mehmet Şerif Tayık, who reported that a foul odor was coming from the apartment. During the investigation, he himself became a suspect in the murder and was arrested.
In his statement to police, Tayık confessed to the killing, stating that he and Değirmencioğlu had been involved in a dispute related to rent and that he had stabbed him. The court ordered the suspect to be detained. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
