A conference and photo exhibition titled “Artsakh: The Faces of Ethnic Cleansing” was held at the University of Granada in Spain, despite pressure from the Azerbaijani embassy.
During the conference, participants discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the events of 2023, which resulted in the forced displacement of more than 100,000 Armenians from Artsakh.
Among the speakers were photojournalist Andreu Fernández García and Sarkis Hakobyan, president of the Armenian Union “Ararat” of Catalonia. In his speech, Hakobyan emphasized the importance of raising international awareness about the events that took place in Artsakh.
Photojournalist Andreu Fernández also presented his works, taken in refugee reception centers in the Armenian cities of Vayk and Goris. Through these photographs, he told the stories of displaced families and presented the events as documentary testimony.
The event was organized by the Institute for Peace and Conflict Research, with the support of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the University of Granada, the Municipality of Santa Coloma de Gramenet, and the Spanish-Armenian Studies Network.
The exhibition has been installed at the university’s Faculty of Political Science, aiming to present the facts about the fate of the Armenians of Artsakh to the international community and to raise awareness.
