“Artsakh: towards recovery to bring Azerbaijan to its responsibilities”. Information event took place at the UN office

On November 14, 2023, the UN Human Rights Council hosted the “Artsakh towards Recovery” event in Geneva. The informative event titled “Holding Azerbaijan Accountable”.

The event brought together diverse audiences, including experts, state delegations, lawyers and other interested parties, to address the human rights violations and genocidal acts carried out by Baku in recent months against the Artsakh, Armenia and Armenians in general, leading to the death of more than 100 people, in Artsakh, displacement of 100,000 people of Armenian origin, humanitarian crisis. The aim of the discussion was to identify possible paths to accountability for actions taken by Baku.

During the event, speakers with extensive experience in the field presented in detail the massive human rights violations committed by Baku, providing the necessary factual information. Especially:

Artak Beglaryan, former Minister of State of Artsakh and former human rights defender, shared his painful personal experience of displacement and suffering, highlighted the difficulties faced by the people of Artsakh following the wars, siege and nine-month famine. He stressed the importance of holding Baku accountable for crimes committed by Baku and restoring the rights of Artsakh's indigenous Armenian population.

A meaningful discussion took place during this event, which allowed participants to gain valuable information on human rights violations committed in Baku. The discussions were important in terms of continued efforts to hold Baku accountable.
