Genocide survivor Mary Vardanian, 109 years old  in the Massachusetts House of Representatives

109-year-old Mary Vardanian, a survivor of the 1915 genocide against the Armenians, was admitted to the House of Representatives of the Massachusetts state,reports  the Boston Herald.

They note that the memory of the victims of the genocide against Armenians was commemorated in the building of the legislative body.

Genocide survivor Mrs. Vardanian arrived at the House of Representatives accompanied by members of the Boston Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. The newspaper reports that the legislators and visitors greeted Mrs. Vardanian with loud applause.

Mary Vardanian (Ushavdyan) was born in 1914 in Aintap, Western Armenia.

 Mrs. Vardanian was three years old when her family fled, moving first to Syria and then to Lebanon.

He immigrated to the US in the 1970s. According to his relatives, he used to weave things with a cross and donate them to churches with the inscription "Armenians don't forget April 24". Mrs. Vardanian will turn 110 in August, she has 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
