Radio France Internationale has officially launched a new Armenian-language editorial service, becoming the organization’s 18th foreign-language service.
The new service will operate exclusively in Eastern Armenian and will be entirely focused on digital content production. It is reported that the eight-member editorial team aims to reach especially young audiences through an active presence on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok.
The editor-in-chief of the Armenian service, Astrig Hakobyan, stated that modern audiences receive much of their information through social networks, and the media must adapt to this reality while preserving quality and reliability.
Among the priorities of the new editorial team are a rapid flow of information, innovative broadcasting formats, and strict fact-checking mechanisms. According to RFI representatives, the goal of the service is not only to provide reliable information, but also to help audiences distinguish fake news.
In addition, it was reported that journalist Lilit Shahverdyan will begin working in Armenia at the end of May, covering the country’s political developments and upcoming electoral processes on the ground.
