The International Court of Justice of the United Nations announced the decision on the application of an interim measure in the case of Armenia against Azerbaijan. This was broadcast live. Despite the fact that the International Court of Justice has satisfied most of Armenia’s demands, however, it has not satisfied the main thing: Azerbaijan does not undertake to return the Armenian captives of war. Instead, the International Court of Justice of the United Nations obliged this country to ensure the protection and security of the rights of Armenian captives of war and guarantee their equality before the law. In another paragraph, the court considers that Azerbaijan should take measures to prevent the spread of hatred and the spread of racial discrimination, including taking measures so that people are not misled by state institutions and officials for ethnicity. The Court also ordered Azerbaijan to take all necessary measures to prevent and punish all acts of vandalism and desecration committed against the Armenian cultural heritage, including churches, other places of worship, monuments and cemeteries. In its lawsuit, Armenia demanded Azerbaijan immediately release the Armenian captives, civilian hostages and other detained people taken prisoner in September-November 2020 or during armed clashes after that.
