A library named after the renowned historian and Armenian studies scholar Dr. Richard Hovannisian will be established in the center of Yerevan. The aim of the initiative is to preserve and make accessible to the public the scholar’s rich legacy through a collection of more than 10,000 books and academic volumes.

Born into a family of genocide committed against Armenians survivors, Richard Hovannisian devoted his entire life to the study of Armenian history, becoming one of the leading figures in global Armenian studies. His works, particularly the multi-volume The Republic of Armenia, made an important contribution to the study of Armenian history.

The newly established library is planned as an international scientific and cultural center, where conferences, discussions, and educational programs will be held. The project is already underway, and the goal of the global fundraising campaign is to ensure the library’s future operation and development.

The project’s director, Garin Hovannisian, notes that the library will not only immortalize the memory of the great historian, but will also give new generations the opportunity to discover the historical and cultural heritage of the Armenian people.
