Preserved Ottoman documents concerning the consequences of the genocide committed against Armenians indicate that official statistics were incomplete and cannot fully reflect the actual losses of the Armenian population.

Even internal Ottoman records noted that the actual number of Armenians was higher than the official figures. At the same time, the numbers of those deported and those who remained after the deportations were presented in separate calculations, creating the possibility of underestimating the demographic consequences of the genocide.

The consequences of the genocide committed against Armenians were not limited to killings. They included mass deportations, dispossession, the destruction of Armenian communities, and the demographic removal of Armenians from their historical homelands.

In addition to Armenians, several other Christian communities of the Ottoman Empire also became victims of violence, deportations, and massacres during the same period.

A comprehensive study of the documents shows that the true scale of the catastrophe of 1894–1923 cannot be assessed solely through official figures. It requires comparing demographic data, documents concerning deportations, and the testimonies of survivors.
