On April 29, 2026, the 15th session of the National Assembly of Western Armenia was held in an online format. The session began at 21:30 and ended at 23:30. Out of 53 elected deputies, 20 participated.
The session opened with the unanimous adoption of the agenda, after which the President of the National Assembly, Armenag Aprahamian, delivered a speech. He thanked the Legal Committee of the National Assembly for the comprehensive report on the environmental issues surrounding Lake Van, emphasizing that the protection of the lake and its surrounding natural and historical-cultural values is of priority importance and requires consistent and systematic work.
During the session, the President of the National Council, Mrs. Lydia Margossian, also spoke, referring to the April commemorative events and emphasizing their high level of organization both in Armenia and abroad. In particular, the importance of the events held in Lyon, France, was noted, which have been organized since 2016 by the National Council of Western Armenia. She also highlighted the high appreciation of the Lyon Municipality as evidence of international recognition of the idea of “Western Armenia.”
The events organized in Eastern Armenia during April were presented by their organizer, the President of the National Assembly, Nelly Harutyunyan, who summarized the completed work and emphasized its continuity and long-term goals.
At the end of the session, Armenag Aprahamian summarized the discussions, emphasizing that the implemented initiatives are aimed at the consistent advancement of national, environmental, and political priorities.
