At the 23rd session of the National Assembly of Western Armenia, Deputy Masis Injijyan delivered an extensive speech on the restoration of the historic bridge of Ani, addressing its historical, legal, and political significance.

He recalled that during the European Political Community Summit held in Yerevan in May 2026, the Republic of Armenia and Türkiye signed a protocol on the joint restoration of the historic bridge of Ani. According to the deputy, although the initiative is presented as a means of promoting peace, tourism, and economic cooperation, it cannot be viewed outside the context of historical justice.

Masis Injijyan noted that in the statements of Turkish officials, Ani is presented as the “first Turkish-Islamic city of Anatolia,” which, in his assessment, reflects Türkiye’s state historical policy and ignores the Armenian identity and heritage of the city.

In his speech, the deputy stressed that the historic bridge of Ani is not merely an architectural structure, but also a symbol of the division of the Armenian homeland, the consequences of the genocide committed against Armenians, and historical injustice. In his view, the restoration of the bridge should be carried out on the basis of historical truth, the preservation of cultural heritage, and the recognition of the rights of the Armenian people.

In conclusion, Masis Injijyan emphasized that the Republic of Western Armenia will continue to monitor the process and defend the historical and cultural rights of the Armenian people on legal platforms.
