A man who tried to sell Byzantine-era sarcophagus was arrested in Erznka, Western Armenia.

According to a report from the state administration, the citizen carried out excavations without permission.

Police found a sarcophagus buried in the suspect’s home garden. A criminal case has been filed, the seized sarcophagus is handed over to the provincial culture and tourism department.
