On April 26, hundreds of people gathered in Times Square, New York, to mark the 111th anniversary of the genocide committed against Armenians. The event was organized by the Knights and Daughters of Vartan and was held under the title “Carrying the Past, Building the Future.”

Throughout the day, speeches and cultural programs emphasized the importance of Armenian roots and the necessity of striving for the future, particularly in political and public arenas. The event was hosted by Lusine Bayleryan, Chantel Nasri, and Nairi Diratsouyan.

The program began with a blessing by clergy, including Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielyan and other church representatives. The attendees observed a moment of silence in memory of the genocide victims, as well as all victims of violence and persecution.

The event also addressed the destruction of Armenian cultural heritage by Baku and the issue of detained prisoners.

The musical segment opened with a performance by opera singer Karina Vardanyan, who presented the national anthems of Armenia and the United States, accompanied by Homenetmen scouts.

In his speech, Archbishop Tanielyan emphasized that such crimes continue to this day, reminding that the consequences of genocide are still felt.

The event once again united the Armenian community to remember the past and consolidate efforts for justice and the future.
