On July 1, 2026, the 23rd session of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Western Armenia was held online and was chaired by the President of the Republic of Western Armenia, Armenag Aprahamian. Nineteen of the 52 elected deputies participated in the session.

During the session, the agenda was unanimously approved. In his opening remarks, Armenag Aprahamian addressed important issues on the agenda, highlighting the news regarding Israel’s recognition of the genocide committed against Armenians, which has received a wide response in Armenian public and political circles. He also emphasized the historical role of the Republic of Cyprus, recalling that it was the first state to officially recognize the genocide committed against Armenians.

As part of the agenda, the participation of the delegation of Western Armenia in the upcoming United Nations sessions was also presented. The President of the National Assembly Nelly Harutyunyan informed the participants that President Armenag Aprahamian is scheduled to deliver a speech at the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, during which issues concerning the rights of the indigenous Armenians of Western Armenia will be presented.

At the end of the session, Deputy Masis Injijyan delivered an emotional speech dedicated to Ani, emphasizing the exceptional historical and cultural significance of the ancient Armenian capital and its enduring place in the national memory and identity of the Armenian people.

The session was concluded by President of the Republic of Western Armenia Armenag Aprahamian, who stressed the importance of united efforts around the national agenda and the consistent representation of Armenian interests on international platforms.
