On May 27, 2026, the 18th session of the National Assembly (Parliament) of the Republic of Western Armenia was held. Seventeen of the fifty-three elected deputies participated in the meeting online.

During the session, a report was presented on the online meeting dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of the National Assembly, held on May 24. Participants emphasized the importance of united action and the continued advancement of Western Armenia’s national goals.

One of the key agenda items was a report to be submitted to the United Nations and international organizations regarding the environmental issues of Lake Van and its surrounding areas. The report addressed disruptions to the lake’s natural balance, challenges related to environmental protection, and the need to preserve historical and cultural heritage.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that Lake Van is not only a unique environmental asset but also an important component of the historical memory and cultural heritage of the Armenian people.

It was also announced that the collection of materials and evidence concerning the historic city of Ani is continuing. In the near future, a new report is expected to be prepared and presented to the international community, focusing on issues related to the preservation of Ani’s historical and cultural heritage.
