On January 19, 2026, the 106th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Western Armenia was commemorated. The members of the  Parliament, government officials, public figures, and representatives of the Armenian community attended the event dedicated to the anniversary.

During the event, the President of the Republic of Western Armenia, Armenag Aprahamian, delivered a speech. In his address, he noted that although the Armenian Question   is often ignored or silenced by certain media outlets, the Armenians of Western Armenia will continue to raise their voice before the world and the global Armenian community. The President emphasized that no matter how much effort is made to suppress or deny the existence of Western Armenians, the Armenian people exist and will continue their struggle.

Armenag Aprahamian stressed that the Western Armenian community has an obligation to preserve its national identity, history, culture, geographical memory, and natural heritage, while simultaneously continuing its legal struggle. According to him, although the historical territories are currently under the control of foreign states, this cannot nullify the Armenian people’s state rights or the historical truth.

The speech highlighted that there are forces attempting to deny the rights and historical presence of Western Armenians, yet the real Armenia is the Armenian people who have preserved their identity to this day and have the right to live, develop, form families, and shape the future of their children.

The President also referred to the formation of the national delegation, emphasizing that the national delegation, created through the initiative and efforts of Nubar Pasha, played a significant role during the years of the Genocide commited against Armenains and later in international platforms in protecting the rights of the Armenian people. The purpose of this delegation was to safeguard the idea of the statehood of Western Armenia and ensure its legal continuity.

At the conclusion of the event, it was reaffirmed that the idea of independence is alive, and the struggle will continue until historical justice is restored and the ancestral territories are liberated.
