On February 4, the Government of Western Armenia marked the 15th anniversary of its founding. During the ceremonial assembly, the organization’s history, achievements, and the paths for preserving the identity of the Armenian people were presented.

A speech was delivered by Shoger Bilemjian, a representative of the Government of Western Armenia, who emphasized that the government was created not only as an executive body, but also as a defender of the rights, culture, and national heritage of the Armenian people. She recalled that the structure was founded in Paris in 2011, and since 2013 its activities have mainly continued in Artsakh and Yerevan.

Shoger Bilemjian stressed that the government’s mission includes not only the protection of national rights, but also engagement in local political and cultural spheres. She noted that certain political forces do not wish for the Armenians of Western Armenia to survive as an independent entity, yet the government will continue its consistent efforts to preserve the rights and heritage of the Armenian people.

Litia Markosyan also addressed the assembly, reminding attendees that genocide has never destroyed the legal and political identity of the Armenian people, and emphasizing that a state does not cease to exist merely because it is under occupation.

Once again recalling the nation’s responsibilities to future generations, Shoger Bilemjian called for the preservation of Armenian identity, faith in the strength of the Government of Western Armenia, and the continuation of work that connects the past with the present.
